Role Summary

We are currently seeking a remote Senior Cloud DevSecOps Engineer with 8+ years of experience for a 3 month contract-to-hire role to assume a pivotal role in supporting our federal government client. This role is intended for a United States (U.S.) citizen with extensive expertise in architecting, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming our clients' infrastructure to be more efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This position places significant emphasis on the implementation of DevSecOps best practices and cloud security.
As a senior professional, your responsibilities will include collaborating with key stakeholders to spearhead secure cloud projects that align with client objectives and regulations. Your insights will play a crucial role in deploying and operationalizing capabilities for clients.

Key Requirement:
- **U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as this work is for a federal government client. Candidates will need to successfully complete a Background Investigation (BI) and credit check prior to beginning work. Nothing in applicants’ history should prevent them from obtaining a public trust security clearance. **
- U.S. citizenship is someone who was born in the US or obtained citizenship through naturalization that the government will verify. The government has excluded non-citizen nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, or those on temporary visas.
- MUST RESIDE in the U.S. and work MUST BE PERFORMED in the U.S.
Core Responsibilities:
- CI/CD Pipeline Architecture: Architect and implement secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based environments, ensuring the integration of security checks and compliance measures.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef, with a primary focus on AWS.
- Security and Compliance: Conduct thorough security assessments, testing, and compliance checks to guarantee that all infrastructure meets or exceeds federal and industry standards.
- Technical Solutions: Skillfully translate business requirements into technical solutions, collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Cloud-native Adoption and Migration: Lead the transition to cloud-native and smart transition practices, enhancing infrastructure efficiency and scalability.
- Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile project teams, contributing to project deliverables and fostering continuous improvement in DevSecOps practices.
- Production Support: Experience in supporting production applications or workloads in a cloud-based environment, emphasizing the importance of automation in operational tasks.
Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Extensive AWS Expertise: Minimum of 8 years designing and implementing solutions on AWS, proficient in utilizing CloudFormation and/or Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) strategies. A demonstrable passion for automating cloud operations end-to-end.
- CI/CD Proficiency: Expertise in crafting and automating CI/CD pipelines, with a specific focus on embedding security, quality and testing using tools such as Jenkins and Gitlab.
- Containerization Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, showcasing efficiency in containerization and orchestration practices.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong programming and scripting skills, particularly in Java and Python, aimed at automating tasks and boosting operational efficiency.
- Advanced Cloud Networking and Security: Skilled in secure cloud networking concepts and configurations, including virtual private clouds, load balancing, and transport layer security, with insights into high availability and disaster recovery strategies. Experience in cloud security measures, including TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management, backed with automated security assessments and testing.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Proven ability in sizing and optimizing hardware and storage solutions to meet project demands effectively. Good understanding of and experience with designing systems for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Cloud Migration Expertise: Experienced in leading large-scale migrations from traditional data centers to cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.
- Innovative Problem-Solving: A forward-thinking approach, constantly seeking process improvements and contributing unique solutions to complex challenges.
- Compliance Knowledge: Well-versed in major compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST SP800-53, SOC, etc, for enhancing the privacy, cybersecurity and compliance posture of cloud solutions.
- Dynamic Project Management: Exceptional ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, applying innovative approaches to achieve desired outcomes.
- Preferred: Government sector experience, especially with DHS, and current public trust clearance.

- AWS Certification such as Certified Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Developer
- Terraform Certified Associate
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
